Thin and thick bars of programmed space form two courtyard gardens and a rear
yard garden for this 4,000 sq ft house. The garden and program bands allow the
Owner to entertain multiple simultaneous functions on site. Formally, the bars
integrate the home into the scale and character of the neighborhood. The visual
and material density of vertical fiber-board cement slats weaves through the
overall composition and offsets the smoothness of plaster walls.
